Summer Schedule

I couldn’t walk last Thursday.  While the low walks most definitely had something to do with it, my summer schedule is the other half of the equation.

With the kids home for two months, the only day I have to go to the gym is Tuesday. It’s the day I do lower body weights and is the day before dryland training, which is also a lower body work out, which means every Wednesday I’m already sore and by Thursday, Advil is my best friend.

This is not ideal, to say the least but also, I know there should be a rest period in between similar workouts but how bad is it to do two, relatively hard lower body workouts, back-to-back. Anyone?

if you’re not used to doing back to back workouts, then i would suggest you try to find a different day to do weights. or try doing them in the early morning on tuesdays so that your body has more time to rest before dryland. or do home workouts for lower body and use your one gym day fore core and upper body.

Well, weirdly, I now am used to back to back workouts and I blame you :)
I’m going to stick with the Tuesday morning thing because it’s the only time I can get in to the gym and really do a full lower body workout without being interrupted. The kids are really throwing a wrench into my whole trying to get fit thing.

  2. I’m just impressed you get to the gym. I can’t make it through the front door. Every time I try, I turn around. The meat heads and chicks half my size always freak me out. Until I grow up, no gym for me.

think your sore body is telling you the answer to your question.
usually a 2 day recovery would be best, i think, if i remember from school (like a gazillion years ago)
also seem to remember that larger muscle groups take longer. Different people have different opinions on the matter of what ends up being best, but pain like that is never good.
i’d do upper and cardio at the gym that day, then dry land, and try and find some lower body stuff you can do at home on another day.
    :)

Ya what she said! If I did that I would be crawling on Thursday….and then my knees would protest. Be kind to yourself when doing strenuous work outs child!
